Emag’s VT 2-4 vertical turning machine is capable of machining shafts as long as 400 mm and ranging to 63 mm in diameter. Workpiece grippers transport the raw parts into the machine and remove them once they have been machined. According to the company, changeover can be accomplished in as little as 6 sec., depending on the workpiece. Four-axis machining enables the component to be machined from two sides simultaneously. The vertical alignment of the workpieces is said to increase process integrity, as the unhindered chip flow prevents clusters from forming in the machining area.
The company will also display its VL2 vertical pick-up lathe for machining small chucked components such as gearwheels, sliding sleeves, synchronizer rings and flanged components.
