FENTON, MI – Around the time the automotive industry was in crisis, Creative Foam made a critical decision that would change the course of its business.
In a move to diversify, the Fenton-based manufacturer began making core kits for wind turbines.
Now, Creative Foam is in the midst of an expansion in Grand Blanc Township that is expected to add up to 20 jobs over the next five years. It’s the latest success for the company that makes products for the automotive, medical, wind energy, industrial and transportation markets.
The expansion will allow its precision die cutting division to continue to grow, the company said earlier this month.
Founder Peter T. Swallow was focused on the automotive industry when he started the company in Fenton in 1979. But Creative Foam has diversified in recent years to include products in the wind energy and medical markets.
The break for Creative Foam, according to Swallow, came with product development.
