With demand for new mid-range aircraft, such as an A321XLR competitor or a next-generation 767 replacement, Lockheed has the engineering expertise, resources, and legacy to develop a best-selling commercial aircraft. However, competing with Boeing and Airbus, both of whom dominate the industry, would require significant investment, regulatory approvals, and market demand to justify such a move.
