Business has been booming at Pilot Precision Products, the consolidation of four companies, since operations began on May 1, the CEO says.
Eric Hagopian held an open house, complete with tours, a ribbon-cutting and catered buffet dinner, on Sept. 23 so dozens of local leaders, community members and business acquaintances could become familiar with the 24,100-square-foot factory at 15 Merrigan Way.
Hagopian received a $2.8 million tax-exempt bond from the Massachusetts Development Finance Agency to house the merged companies on land that was part of the site of the former Oxford Foods pickle plant property. He said he purchased The duMONT Company of Greenfield in September 2016 and Hassay Savage of Turners Falls in May 2017. Magafor and GMauvaisUSA, Hagopian said, were part of the latter acquisition.
“Our operations are substantially improved from a productivity standpoint. We now have all the businesses located together,” Hagopian said. “We’ve got all our inventory in one place, all the engineering, technical support, manufacturing, sales … finance — everything’s under one roof, so it makes a huge difference.”
Pilot Precision Products, next door to the Deerfield Department of Public Works building, bills itself as the world’s largest supplier of industrial broaches and small, round cutting tools from duMONT Minute Man Industrial Broaches and Hassay Savage broaching tools, as well as the exclusive American distributor of Magafor and GMauvaisUSA products.
